Festive Flagship Manhattan | Westland Whiskey

It's no secret how much we love a Manhattan, especially with single malt whiskey as the centerpiece. But this holiday season, we wanted to share a special manhattan recipe, layered with rich spice tones that are perfectly suited for the colder months. Our favorite secret ingredient can be made ahead of time: mulled wine reduction. See recipe details below ("See recipe details below")

Festive Flagship Manhattan
Ingredients
2 oz Westland Flagship
1 oz amaro
¼ oz mulled wine reduction*
2 dashes aromatic bitters

Garnish: brandied cherry

Instructions
Combine all ingredients in a mixing glass and top with ice. Stir thoroughly to chill, combine, and dilute, at least 30 seconds. Strain into a chilled nick and nora glass. Garnish with brandied cherry.

*Tip: mulled wine reduction is easy to make at home. Pour one bottle of red wine on the stove with 1 cup of turbinado sugar and your favorite festive spices. For this recipe, we used ginger, cinnamon, clove, and orange. Simmer on low for several hours, until the wine coats a spoon. Chill completely before using.
