Garden Path Cask Exchange
Over the years, Westland has loaned whiskey casks to some of our favorite regional breweries, all in the spirit of camaraderie and kinship. As a result, we’ve built up a surprising inventory of beer, mead, cider, and barleywine casks. Our next Cask Exchange release finished its maturation in a cask from Garden Path Fermentation. Garden Path Fermentation, located just half a mile from our bottling hall in Burlington, WA, contributed this beer to the nationwide “Black is Beautiful” project, adding their signature native yeast strain to create a more acidic profile than your typical stout.
After finishing its maturation in one of Garden Path’s casks, this whiskey developed a distinct character with tasting notes of cedar, fresh thyme, and malt powder on the nose. The palate offers layers of dried lemon, cooked apple, and a hint of gentian liqueur. Celebrate this unique blend of malt, oak, and creativity in this limited release before it’s gone.
